Born and raised in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, actor Ryan McPartlin has gone from achieving success as a student-athlete at The University of Illinois to achieving success on screen with his Midwestern charm.

Best known for five seasons on NBC’s hit action dramedy “Chuck,” as Devon “Captain Awesome” Woodcomb, McPartlin more recently co-starred with Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman in the big screen thriller Hunter Killer, and assumed scrubs yet again for his role as Jessica Alba’s better half in two seasons of “L.A.’s Finest.”

En route to primetime success, McPartlin caught the eye of renowned photographer Bruce Weber and landed a prime campaign for Abercrombie & Fitch. It wasn’t long before he parlayed a regular role on the daytime drama “Passions” into a lead role as Fran Drescher’s younger love interest on the comedy “Living with Fran.” No stranger to romancing an older leading lady, McPartlin went on to star opposite Gina Gershon in the acclaimed Lifetime mini-series “Everything She Ever Wanted.”

He’s since accrued a variety of guest star roles on such series as “Mad Men,” “Fuller House,” “Ghosted,” “Community,” “Playing House,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Necessary Roughness,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” “Friends with Better Lives,” “I Hate my Teenage Daughter,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “Swingtown,” “Mystery Girls,” “CSI: NY” and “CSI: MIAMI,” among others. Recurring roles on

Marc Cherry’s “Why Women Kill” and “Devious Maids,” “Bad Judge” opposite Kate Walsh, “All America,” and a star turn in Crackle’s “Sequestered” series followed.

Additionally, McPartlin voiced the title role of Universal’s animated “The Adventures of Clutch Powers.” Jennifer Nettles stalked McPartlin in the country duo Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” video and he also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar biopic. He also starred in the telefilms “Gametime,” “Holly’s Holiday,” “Babysitter’s Blackbook” and “A Kind of Magic,” as well as the feature film The Right Kind of Wrong with Ryan Kwanten.

No stranger to Holiday movies, McPartlin starred in “Heaven Sent” directed by Michael Landon Jr., opposite Mayim Mialik in Lifetime’s “The Flight Before Christmas” and “Once Upon a Main Street” with Vanessa Lachey, which he followed with “The Holiday Fix Up,” opposite Jana Kramer for whom he also co-wrote and starred in her “Second Chances” music video. Most reently, McPartlin was seen in Comedy Central’s “A Clüsterfünke Christmas” opposite Rachel Dratch and Anna Gasteyer.

McPartlin is also a fitness and health enthusiast. He and his wife Danielle recently launched a new venture called Plate Therapy.com, a meal delivery service that ships fully prepared, healthy meals to the doorsteps of their clients. When he isn’t on set or chasing his two sons Wyatt and Dylan, McPartlin works at Plate Therapy’s headquarters with Danielle as their Chief Taste Tester. They currently reside in Los Angeles, California with their two sons.
