Today on Marie
Carter Oosterhouse
Carpenter Carter Oosterhouse tells Marie how he developed a passion for the trade. Also, he discusses his latest business endeavor of opening a winery in his Michigan hometown. Plus, Carter explains why wife Amy Smart is "the one" and how they live an eco-friendly lifestyle. In fact, because of composting, there was only one bag of trash collected at their 220-guest wedding. He gives tips to help the environment, such as recycling and avoiding the use of plastic bags and water bottles.

Intern Queen Lauren Berger
Intern Queen Lauren Berger reveals the impact internships have on the resumes of recent college grads. In this competitive job market, applicants with internship experience are more likely to get hired faster and earn a more competitive salary. Most importantly, don't be afraid of rejection. Instead, use it as motivation to propel you forward. When preparing for an interview, do a massive amount of research on the company. Typically, you should begin applying 2-3 months ahead of time, but it's still not too late to land an internship this summer. Proofread your resume to correct all grammar and spelling errors. Also, rehearse a one minute pitch to prove yourself to superiors you may be introduced to only briefly. Ideally, you'd like your internship to translate into a job. Stay in touch with your professional contacts three times per year to remain on their radar.

Guide Dogs & Puppies
Lorri Bernson raves about how her guide dog Carter has given her so much independence and demonstrates how his behavior shifts when she removes his working harness. Marie cuddles with a puppy currently in the training program to serve as a guide dog later in life. Guide Dogs of America breeds dogs who are given to foster families at seven weeks of age. For a period of 18-20 months, these volunteers teach the dogs basic obedience and socialization. Then, the dogs return to the organization for formal harness training before being matched with a visually impaired companion. Labradors have a very high success rate because they are adaptable to all different environments. Trainer Bryan Young joins the discussion to assist a blindfolded Marie as she is guided through an obstacle course by Legacy, a dog currently enrolled in the training program. As a special added bonus, Lorri surprises Marie by naming a puppy Osmond!
