Mac Powell, lead singer of the Grammy Award winning band "Third Day," hits the Marie stage to sing a new song off his debut solo country album. Mac also talks to Marie about his decision to record a solo country album and about the challenge of transitioning from Christian Rock to Country music. And later, Mac talks about his work outside of music. Mac has used his fame to work with the Christian humanitarian organization World Vision impacting countless lives around the world.
Today, Mac offers a special message:
I’m proud to be able to use my platform to shine a light on the work that World Vision does. World Vision serves millions of people including earthquake and hurricane survivors, abandoned and exploited children, survivors of famine and civil war, refugees, and children and families in communities devastated by AIDS in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. They work domestically and internationally helping those affected by disasters.
As a member of the band Third Day, we’ve had #1 songs and received a lot of awards, but one thing that continues to be our greatest accomplishment is working with World Vision and our fans to change the lives of over 20,000 children through the organization’s child sponsorship program. World Vision’s work provides not only food and clean water, but also education and medicine to kids who are in need. I’ve seen their work in action when our band traveled to Haiti one year after the tsunami. Knowing there is a problem has affected my life, but participating in the life-changing work that World Vision does has truly changed my life. I know that we each can make a difference others’ lives.
