Dan Kohler is in the kitchen making the Japanese treat, mochi.

Steps

Put some mochi rice in a food processor and blend it up while it is still dry. Then steam it and add it to a mortar. Pound the steamed rice with a pestle, dripping water in now and again, until you have a stretchy cake. Form the cake into buns around bean paste or natto and eat.
